BLUE BOY BACHELOR'S BUTTON (Centaurea cyanus) was brought to America from Europe in the 17th century and known to have been cultivated by Thomas Jefferson in his gardens at Monticello. It is a nostalgic favorite from my childhood as well. The plants will bloom throughout the early summer and this well-maintained heirloom strain is ALL BLUE. Extremely easy to grow and dries well. Self-seeding hardy annual grows 2-3' tall. 50 seeds. ORGANICALLY GROWN
GROWING TIPS: Just sprinkle seed after danger of frost and cover lightly. Plant in an area where these wonderful heirlooms can self-sow year after year, bringing electric blue to your ornamental border or naturalized landscape. I grow mine as a come after in-between my irises, because I like to leave the iris foliage there all year. They pop up in between in nice clumps and have a similar color and the iris foliage is a nice companion.
