ALLHEAL (Prunella vulgaris), also known as Self Heal, is an ancient medicinal herb which is also a pretty ornamental. Now naturalized throughout much of Europe, Asia and North America, its pretty violet blossoms appear in the summer. Proclaimed in all cultures as a miraculous cure-all, it was considered to be powerful and holy in origin. Grows 1'-2' high. The leaves and small flowers are edible (and tasty) and should be gathered when in full bloom for medicinal purposes. MEDICINAL: Used for centuries in infusions to aid healing internal and external ailments and wounds. Recently it has been added to the store of herbs used by AIDS sufferers because it is said to inhibit the HIV virus. Heal-All contains many useful compounds including Betulinic acid, Oleanolic acid, Rosmarinic acid, Rutin, Ursolic acid, tannis, Delphinidin and D-Camphor. It is antiseptic, antispasmodic, astringent and diuretic, just to name a few. It is useful in weak sterile infusions for the treatment of pinkeye. Studies have shown its antibacterial properties inhibit the growth of pseudomonas, Bacillus typhi, E.coli, Mycobacterium tuberculi. Along with research on its effect on the AIDS virus, it is also being studied for potential use in treatment of herpes, cancers and diabetes.
GROWING TIPS: Easy to grow. Start seeds anytime from late winter to late summer in pots or flats with sterilized soil mix. Keep moist but not wet. As seedling appear, gradually introduce them to direct light. Transplant out when sturdy enough to handle, and harden off before planting in garden 12"-36" apart.

All CherryGal Heirloom Seeds are OPEN-POLLINATED. This means saved seed will be true to the parent. Don't be dazzled by the never-ending array of hybrid seeds promoted by gardening suppliers. First, seeds from that produce will not grow true to the parent -- you have to keep buying the hybrid seed (get the picture?). Second, most hybrids are developed for market – not home -- growers with an emphasis on extended shelf life, storage and shipping qualities -- NOT flavor, texture and all those other elements that home growers seek.

SHIPPING: I endeavor to ship my seeds as quickly as possible - usually within 24 - 48 hours. During peak seed season (January - June) this timeframe can stretch to a week or more because of heavy volume of sales. I do the best I can and fulfill orders in the order received. If a variety is on back order with a supplier and not likely to available for a week or longer, you will be advised and given the opportunity to substitute or cancel with refund. I package my seeds for shipping in a manner appropriate to the amount and type of seed - larger orders and larger seeds require more packaging. Whether you choose first class mail or priority shipping, your seeds will ship using a delivery confirmation number which will be supplied to you. Our checkout system is keyed to the US Postal System. For small seed orders, I recommend choosing FIRST CLASS mail at checkout. Larger orders (over 13 ounces) can ship either parcel post, though you may find PRIORITY MAIL actually to be less expensive. (I gave up trying to figure out the US Postal System rates a long time ago).
