CHERVIL (Anthriscus cerefolium) is an ancient heirloom spread by the Romans throughout Europe and is one constituent of the "fines herbes" so basic to French cuisine. A delicate annual related to parsley, it imparts a mild, fresh flavor with touches of sweet anise. 50 seeds.
MEDICINAL: Rich in antioxidants and minerals such as selenium, potassium, maganese and magnesiumTraditionally used as a diuretic and blood purifier, it has been shown to reduce cholesteral and high blood pressure if regularly eaten. It is said to relieve morning sickness and if used in an ointment or salve, reduces stretch marks. It is even said to cure hiccups! Topically, chervil makes an excellent sunburn relief ointment as well as eczema. Used as a hair rinse, it strengthens the hair preventing breakage and loss.
GROWING TIPS: Prefers a cool, moist location. Heat causes it to quickly go to seed. Thus, plant in pots and bring indoors when the weather dictates.
