ROMAN CHAMOMILE (Anthemis nobilis) is a low-growing (6"-12") version of the familiar culinary German Chamomile. In ancient times, re-popularized in the Victorian era, Roman Chamomile was used as a lawn seed, or in between paving stones, or in the rockery. Today, it is again becoming popular as lawns rebirth into more earth friendly form incorporating clovers and herbs, rather than the sterile grass seed so beloved by golf courses. The term "earth-apple" is most appropriate for this use, as the apple scent will greet you when it is trodden in the lawn or path. It shares medicinal qualities with its taller cousin. Perennial.
