About Tin Woodsman Pewter . . . Tin Woodsman Pewter was born in 1985, when Jim and Deborah’s closest friends decided to shut down their pewter studio. Deborah leapt at the idea of learning pewtersmithing and turning it into a hobby of her own. Within three years, it was obvious that Deborah’s “hobby” was taking over the Chapman home. Deborah’s first artistic explorations were in ceramics and costume design, whereas Jim’s were in woodworking and bookmaking. By melding their knowledge and experiences and encouraging their staff to do the same, the company continues to evolve and grow.
