Description
PAINTED LADY SWEETPEA (Lathyrus odorata) is an historical, intensely fragrant and beautiful bi-color climber that blooms earlier than most other sweet peas. Dating to the 1700s and grown by Thomas Jefferson at Monticello, the large blossoms benefit from deadheading or being cut for the vase, which encourages even more blooms. Reaches 6'-8' high on fairly straight stems. 60 days. 25 Seeds. Limit one per customer.
GROWING TIPS: Start inside by soaking seed for 24 hours. Germination can take up to 2 weeks so keep medium moist until germination occurs. When putting out in the garden, give it a sunny (or just a bit of shade) position, preferably with some protection and support. Feed every 2 weeks while blooming.
