JEWELS OF OPAR (Talinum paniculatum) also known as Fame Flower and Pink Baby's Breath has lime-green succulent leaves from which arise a cloud of tiny red "jewels" and pink flowers that grows to 24". This is stunning as a filler in the vase! A self-seeding tender perennial, once established you will never be without. Easy to grow, tolerates dry conditions and requires little care. As an added bonus, it is edible -- you can add it to your salad. Both leaves and flowers are nutritious, containing Omega3. In traditional Chinese medicine it is known as Tu-ren-shen and is used to treat many conditions. You will get a 3" pot with one seedling which after one season will give birth to many more!
GROWING TIPS: You can lift the tuberous roots and overwinter for replacement in Spring if you live in a very cold climate. Here in Zone 7, they reseed handily!
[We are tickled that this flower's name was used by Edgar Rice Burroughs in one of his Tarzan series.]
