OBEDIENT PLANT (Physotegia virginiana), also known as False Dragonhead, is a beautiful tall 3'-4' flowering rhizomatous perennial so-named because if pushed into a position it will stay there. The clusters of white or pink to pale lilac flowers bloom on terminal spikes throughout the summer and look like tiny snapdragons. Its showy blooms make wonderful cut flowers. Although it can become invasive, this is easily remedied by lifted and dividing every few years. Placement in the garden is important because it will not do well with too much shade or too rich soil and if grown without some kind of support (a fence, other flowers, etc) can flop. Tolerates clay soil. Deer don't care for it. Great choice for a meadow or native garden and will attract hummingbirds, bees and other pollinators. Requires a period of moist stratification for germination. Native range is Eastern North America. Hardy Zones 3-9. 25 Seeds. Limit one per customer.
Now Shipping ...
Items listed as "Ships Now" ship within 1-2 business days (non-holiday Monday-Friday). We reserve the option to hold small seed orders when a variety (as noted on the listing as "coming") is not yet in until the order can be filled completely. For larger orders, we ship what is available and back-order the remainder. Live plants ship when weather and your zone permit. By the way, once your order leaves our hands it will be in the hands of the shipping carrier, usually USPS, which is experiencing delays due to high volume. If you have any questions, please email us using the contact link on the website. Thank you!
