Description
BORAGE (Borago officinalis), also known as Blue Borage, is a pretty herb with brilliant blue flowers. In Victorian times it was a popular garden decorative, as well as used in the traditional claret cup enjoyed at high tea. Today, many use it to sprinkle on salads. However caution: it contains a liver toxic alkaloid. It is very useful to grow near your tomato plants as it will enhance the flavor of the tomatoes. Also useful because bees love it, so it will enhance pollination. Grows 2-3' tall and is a self-seeding annual. 50 seeds.
GROWING TIPS: Borage is not fussy and can be direct sown throughout the season. It likes full sun and rich soil but it should be situated so it has some protection from wind as it will blow right over. Once established it will reseed itself.
