Description
MARALROOT (Leuzea carthamoides 'Lujza') is little known in Western botanicals, though it can be grown here successfully. A Siberian wildflower with a lateral rhizomous root that has remarkable metabolic effects. Used for decades by Russian athletes to improve performance. Study there indicates it not only enhances performance, but recovery as well. It has a beneficial effect on blood sugar levels and memory. The pretty thistle-like purple flowers appear in the second year. Grows in deep, well-drained fertile soil in full sun. Very hardy Zones 2-7. 10 seeds.
