In the manner of true Pique Assiette, the pieces were broken or hand cut to decorate a new Italian terra cotta orchid garden pot. The vintage English Crown Staffordshire "Maytime" pattern (backstamp included) fills the upper portion and rim of the pot, accented with a unknown antique green transferware bits. The lower portion has larger shards of vintage Czech pink lustreware. A single glass daisy button and a green lampwork bead finish the decoration. As with all Fit Of Pique pot, the grouting has been treated so that it can be outside without discoloring or mildewing. In this instance I intentionally left some of the grit from the grout on the pottery while glazing to enhance the archaelogical effect. The pot has a drainage hole. Measures 4.5"H x 7" across the top. I can see this pot beautifully used for growing a pink or white Phalaenopsis Orchid!
