Periwinkle, a.k.a. Vinca (V. major), is a beautiful perennial trailing flower that serves ideally as a ground cover or understory in your foundation beds or decorative borders. Native to Europe and Asia, they can grow almost anywhere. The dark green leaves and exquisite violet blue (much bluer than my camera captured) flowers grow on delicate stems from 3'-6' long. But the stem will take room wherever it touches the ground, so you will so have a dense propagation with just a few starts that blooms pretty much the entire growing season with evergreen foliage. It is not, however, invasive since it is so easily pulled or mowed. This is an heirloom that has been decorating the foundation garden of my 1927 house from its beginning. They also make excellent container plants, especially combined with taller subjects. You will receive one very nice start in a 3-4" nursery pot shipped Monday-Thursday.
